Searching through the town looking for her mother’s buried books, Kimia tries to tackle the fear she has inherited from her mother. In this journey, she needs to find herself through the mirrors of others.
Kimia Hendi is an independent filmmaker with a passion for storytelling. Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, Kimia developed an early interest in film and storytelling. She attended the Art university of Tehran, where she studied Bachelor of Cinema, specialized in cinematography. She then completed her Masters of Film & TV at Victorian College of Arts in Melbourne, Australia where she won Outstanding Achievement award of 2018. In 2020, Kimia decided to expand her knowledge on European filmmaking. She started a Master course at LUCA school of arts in Brussels , Belgium and graduated in June 2022 with her recent film Inherent. Since 2015, Kimia has directed and produced four short films and a feature documentary, receiving recognition and awards from various film festivals around the world. Her short film Passage won the Emerging Australian Director award at MIFF 2019. The film went on to win several awards and was distributed in several countries. Kimia is currently developing her first feature film and is hoping to produce it next year.
